New Mexico ~ superbloom and more

We left Oasis State on route to Deming, NM to visit and old friend. At first we couldn't figure out what the white haze in the distance.

As we got closer we realized it was White Sands National Park. Impressive how far away it was visible

We stopped at a tiny taco truck in an assuming town. It was the BEST!!

As we approached Deming the poppies started showing off!!

Here is the view of Chris Flints ranch as we approached.
It is a little piece of heaven!

We had a wonderful visit , learning more about his ranch and current life dream.
He called us out of the blue a couple weeks ago. He wanted to thank Jerry for being a positive influence in his life as a neighbor and as a marine. I knew him as a fun energetic creative student when I taught at Watkinson. It was a fun coincidence when I learned he was next door neighbors with Jerry (who I hadn't yet met.)

Chris became a marine, and ended up protecting our country for many years with many roles. He has travelled and lived all over the world. I am amazed at all the good he has done and I am proud to know him.

He is now the founder of the Flint Ranch Institute For Living. He is helping veterans and first responders and others manage the intensity and burn out of these occupations through his biophilic sanctuary. Check out his website to learn more.

Below is our campsite at Chris's ranch! Supurb!!

Beautiful setting sun from the house and Chris beautiful dog "Farrah Fawcett"

Such a memorable visit.

The poppies were blooming everywhere!!

When we got on the highway to head towards Tucson the poppies were really carpeting the desert. I got so excited about the upcoming weeks anticipating this is just the beginning.

our campsite at Gilbert Ray Town Park, adjacent to Saguaro NP. I stayed here a lot in the early 90's.
and while in Tucson of course we had to dine at El Charro for their fresh corn tamales. a Kimble favorite!!!

 beautiful sunset but extremly HOT!!
103 today!!!

made yummy Heuvos Rancheros out of last night leftovers Yummy!!!

No poppies but the Creosote bushes are blooming everywhere!!

Another hole in the wall taco place for lunch!!!!!!!

I fear we may have lost many of the wildflowers due to EXTREME heat wave.  OMG it is 105 right now in Gila bend.

We changed plans and cancelled camping in Organ Pipe  tonight and tomorrow night as that would have been non electric! meaning no AC. lol

We found a military Fam camp in Gila bend for only 12.00 a night with full hook ups!! So it's 4:00 pm and I'm sitting in our camper updating our blog because its just crazy hot. So early in the season for this heat... insane!!!

Tomorrow we will do a day trip to visit Organ Pipe National Monument because it has a special place in my heart.

Definitly altering some plans....glad we are not tenting . lol
