California farmlands and Vandenberg Airforce Base
I continue to find it fascinating how diverse our country's landscape is. Constantly sparked with childlike excitement.
On way from Death Valley to Vandenberg AF Base we camped in Bakersfield CA in the middle of orange country! OMG The campground was loaded with pick your own free oranges!!! First time we both tasted an orange picked right off the tree! HEAVENLY!!!!
For dinner I made a yummy scallop pasta with the last of our hand harvested scallops from Spencer this past fall!
Passed more oil rigs on way west.
just love how the hills are changing.
Miles and miles of irrigated farmland.
Just love the colors and variation of the rolling hills. yellow wildflowers popping here and there.
Passing through farmland everywhere! Fun facts below.
had a free day in Vandenberg so finally made us some blueberry pancakes!
We did a mini vaca within our vaca! we stayed in the far right cabin on the water for an overnight. It was so nice to sleep with the sounds of crashing waves. We spent the afternoon enjoying the beach. Such cool colors
the flower below is a sea fig. They are carpeting the whole area. They are beautiful but quite invasive!!
This one is called Orange bush Monkeyflower! lol
We took a walk up on the bluff looking below
. it was stunning but luckily this section of road is closed to vehicles!!!! A bit scary,,,,missing 1/2 the lane.
