Lassen Volcanic National Park
Today we went to Lassen Volcanic National Park. The visitor center was closed except for weekends and the road was closed as snow was still not cleared the whole way. We were welcome to hike or bike in the park. People do a lot of winter sports here snowshoeing, cross country skiing. Some kids were sledding on a saucer in tee shirts on this beautiful spring day.
We took our e-bikes out and biked up almost 5 miles until the workers were plowing the rest of the road. It was beyond beautiful.
We stopped at a sulpher spring. It was so odd to see in the middle of the mountain. But it is all volcanic.
We biked up to 7789 ft from about 5000 ft. We couldn't go any farther because they were still clearing the snow! Look how far they can blow the snow!
The ride back down was so much fun!!!! We didn't have to pedal once. LOL
Check out the video Jerry took of me in Hyperlapse.
the western Jays are so much brighter and prettier than our eastern ones.
Once we came down the maintain we stopped at this field where 2 research students were doing field work. really interesting, bummed I forgot to take a picture of them. The tiny stream was loaded with baby brown trout.
Made grilled pork tenderloin and Indian spinach and carrots with rice.
Had a lovely little stream behind our camper which gave us a calming little babble.
