Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks

Driving to Sequoia NP we went through more amazing big scale farmlands.

The holes you see here are mortar holes made by Indigenous people to ground grain, nuts seed etc. like the more current "mortar and pestle"

This was a swinging bridge... glad its not now. lol

Chilly night...you have to break out the old standby. my homemade split pea soup!

Entering Sequoia NP and first seeing the humongous trees it was so sweet to see this car ahead of us with 2 young boys standing up through the sunroof.

It is so hard to grasp the size of these trees!
I may not have seen the superbloom carpets but we have found so many secret new wildflowers!!!!

Butterfly Mariposa Lily

California Milkweed

Pretty face

Purple Fairy-lantern

Sacred Datura
Common Fiddleneck

Another  great Mexican Lunch

Cornflower

OMG I am in my cooking heaven. grocery store had fresh cactus pads ( Nopales). I bought Fresh tomatillos ,poblanos, chicken onion ..grilled it all up in to perfection!!!

General Grant!! lol.  The tallest tree in the park of course.

The cars give a bit of perspective of how big
 the trees are

A good example of the effect of wildfires...needed for the huge pines to sprout babies

Our campground was filled with turkeys, fun to watch their antics and flying up to roost each night.
